After serving seven years in the United States Army, Mike joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, where he spent more than half of his 35-year assignment as a detective and FBI-certified bomb technician on the Bomb Squad. He has trained in the UK, Germany, Israel, Poland, and Thailand, responded to hundreds of emergency events, rendered safe live IEDs and explosives, interviewed and prosecuted bombers and now, in semi-retirement, provides training to the next generation of bomb disposal officers, bomb technicians, bomb k-9 teams and detectives. Since the 1970s, Mike has visited the WWI and WWII battlefields of Europe.
